Petlyakov PE-2-project
The last ten years members of Bodø Aviation Historical Society
have been collecting parts for the restoration of a Petlyakov PE-2.
The restoration-process
was started in 1991, but
had to be put aside for
several years due to
other priorities at the
museum. Bodø Aviation
Historical Society is now
restarting the project,
and have for several
weeks now been doing
some sheet metal
repairs on the cockpit
section. We’ve replaced
the skinning, and a lot of
interior details are now
undergoing restoration.
The pilots seat, together
with the steering stick,
the rudder pedals, and
the top turret have for
several years been on display at the museum. These parts are now
to be installed in their proper place. The cockpit section, though, is
planned to be put back on separate display when finished.
