The aviation conferenceThe annual conference for the aviation museums and enthusiasts in Scandinavia 10th and 11th February, more than 80 aviation enthusiasts from all over Norway met for the yearly Aviation Conference for museums and aviation historical associations. This year’s conference was held in marvellous surroundings at the Norwegian Armed Forces Aviation Collection at Gardermoen, outside Oslo. All through this Friday and Saturday a long range of challenges and questions concerning aviation history was discussed. The main subjects were archives and libraries for research into aviation history, the establishment of the Norwegian Magazine for Aviation History, and information and ongoing activities at the museums and associations. During the conference dinner Friday evening, Per Hoff was awarded the prize for this years Enthusiast, due to his many achievements as a builder of model airplanes. Sven Scheiderbauer, the director of Norsk Luftfartsmuseum, commented after the conference: “I’m very satisfied that so many would attend the conference. We’ve never had this many participants before. I consider it of tremendous importance that the entire national expertise in aviation history has a forum for common challenges and questions.” |
